Dragon Hunting

Quite some time had passed since she’d laid her eyes on the mighty sight of the golden Bifrost, hovering beside the dock it was tied to. Which was mainly her own fault, since Morty had been rather busy with the whole almost-dying thing, but she hoped the good Captain would forgive her on not visiting more frequently these last few months.

She had received word shortly after her recovery had finished that the Elf wished to see her about some matter that wasn’t disclosed to the messenger. (Or said messenger didn’t trust Brian with the information, since he was the one taking messages for the Scolopend while he ‘forced’ her to rest even after her wounds had completely healed. It had irked the Inkling a tad bit when she had agreed to go meet the Captain, but Morty had placated him with cuddles and promises of bringing back new art mediums for him. And of course, that she would be extra careful for him.)

Which was how she found herself outside of his Airship, skittering up to carefully walk on board the deck and tap her knuckles on the first door she found. The large creature pressed the tips of her fingers together as she waited, humming a light tune, eager to see Cresento again.

Morty hoped there wasn’t anything bad happening that had prompted this call. (she couldn’t smell blood and death and the bitter-sour smell of fear on the air, so that meant if there was trouble, she hadn’t arrived too late at least) While she was more than happy to assist her friends in anything they might need, she would much rather see them happy and content instead of on the brink of battle. She steeled herself internally, wondering who might bother Cresento and planning ahead about how she’d take care of them if anyone was indeed causing the Captain harm.

It was a pleasant thought, vanquishing the enemies of her beloved friends, and it pulled a content smile onto her still-pale face, fingers tapping together contemplatively. She might be completely healed and have all of her energy returned since the Incident, but the physical signs would be there for a few weeks yet. Thankfully, they weren’t very prominent.

(( Back for a little bit to roleplay with a friend. Don’t expect my activity to last after we finish our thread though, idk. Morty/Sve muses still aren’t very cooperative with anything else, so I’ve been focusing on another OC in the same Scoloverse recently. ))

(( I probably won’t be on here anymore. It feels a bit wrong to possibly get peoples’ hopes up, if anyone still follows my RP blogs, and while I’ll still use my Scolopends for various things and even roleplaying, it probably won’t be on any tumblr blog.

I’m sorry if anyone was waiting for replies or stuff. I might finish up the rest of that Arc before I completely vanish, but as of now, these account’ll be completely inactive (I mean they basically were anyways), minus the occasional doodle if I happen to be motivated to draw them.

I won’t scrap Morty, or Sve, or delete these because I have a lot of memories on them and things I want to remember for future use, but indefinite hiatus is happening at this time.

Thanks for being great people. Hope to see you all around sometime. <3 ))

scolosverton:

He would have to keep waiting for that dark expression, for all Sve did was take hold of Brian’s hand with surprising carefulness. Being around fragile creatures for so long had taught him to be careful, as one prick of his talons had the potential of severely injuring them. He really didn’t want to deal with trying to treat two injured annoyances right now.

“This will hurt for a moment,” he said lowly, seeing Brian go rigid and doe-eyed. Internally, Sverton smirked without humor; of course, that’s all this male saw when he looked at him. One who would kill him without hesitation in cold blood and go against all of the things he’s been saying this entire meeting. He shouldn’t be surprised or angered anymore when people jumped to that immediate confusion, but the burn of being judged once more at face value left a sour taste in his mouth.

But his ire didn’t make him hesitate to carefully run one of his sharp claws over Brian’s palm after he had spoken. A small line appeared after the motion, followed by the sharp scent of blood reaching his nose. He could always smell the life beneath every creature’s skin, but having it ripe and flowing right in front of him had Sverton pulling in his automatic response that it was time to feed. Blood always did that. A minor inconvenience. It was thankful that the most Brian did when he had cut him was flinch minutely.

Those words caused an icy cold wave to run through his veins, and Brian honestly expected to die on the spot. He guessed that Sve’s odd calmness now carried over to his killing, judging by his distant face. He stared up blankly when Sve took his hand, simultaneously holding Morty’s hand ever-tighter, like a life line. Maybe, if he held on tight enough to her, he’d be able to stay with her in some way when he died.

It was a comforting thought, but the small prick of pain on his palm was vastly different than he expected. Thankfully, he simply flinched and blinked owlishly down at Sve’s motions, raising his black-gray eyes to stare into the Scolopend’s face when he leaned down to mutter something that Brian barely caught. An incantation? Sve knew about magic? Scolopends could use magic? A dozen other questions popped up while he watched his blood swirl from his skin, but then Sve was pulling back and grasping his hand again.

A soothing, warm feeling replaced the numbness that had crept in after the initial shock of thinking he was going to die had faded. It spread into the wound the other man had caused, humming into his veins pleasantly, and caused him to relax in return unconsciously. He opened his mouth to question what just happened, to try and get his thoughts into words, but Sve was already to the door before he got passed the lump lodging the sentences in his throat.

Brian blinked down at his hand, noticing that the ink-like patterns that constantly moved over his skin had formed into a shape, and a colored one at that. The cut was nowhere to be found. He looked back up towards the already-closed door that Sve had exited from, more questions than he could count buzzing about his mind.

Oddly enough, his worry and paranoia that the purple Scolopend was lying had been replaced with an assurance that he would do all he could for Morty, a thought that seemed to radiate from that mark on his palm, if that was even possible.

But above all else, he hoped that Sverton was successful in his upcoming endeavors.

2. Do you identify with or relate to your muse on any personal level?

Not really. I guess her love of traveling is a thing I relate to, but it’s not ever something I’ve had the pleasure of doing before, so I can only speculate. Maybe her cuddly chirpy-squeakiness, but that’s about all.

10. Is your muse a hero, villain or something in between? What’s their motivation for being such?

To her friends, she’s definitely a hero. She does whatever is in her power to help them and be there for them, no matter the cost. To anyone on the other side of that coin though, she’s probably considered a villain, because she becomes ruthless and pretty much a thing of nightmares to anyone she believes has scorned her ‘friendsies’. She’s gone to war for friends and didn’t care about the other side of the battle in the least, other than that they needed to be taken out. Her moral code is pretty skewed, but she thinks it’s completely justified, like a lot of villains. Don’t get me wrong though, she likes to help /a lot/ of people and creatures, even if she doesn’t actually know them. So long as they aren’t enemies of friends. <A<;

13. If you could change something about your muse, would you? If so, what would it be?

I’d teach her how to fucking talk properly, for one. Nah, not really, she has her own little quirks and there’s reasons behind them. Uh. I don’t really think there’s anything I want to change about her. Maybe the placement of her arms? Since they make me mad. . - .

19. Does your muse have any secrets?

Surprisingly, yes; Morty actually has a lot of secrets. A lot. But most of them aren’t her own, are ones that others have trusted her to keep, but she does have her fair share of things hidden away in her mind that not even Brian knows about yet.

A Scolopend at the Circus

askringmasterloyal:

The ringmaster attempted to offer the scolopend a grateful smile. “Thank you, cherie,” he replied as he began to walk forward, in the direction of her nudging. He recalled what Morty looked like, and couldn’t help but chuckle to himself. He was fairly certain that no one in his troupe had seen a being quite like her before, and he couldn’t help but wonder what their reactions would be. Oh, if only he didn’t have the blindfold; he so wished to see the looks of surprise on their faces upon seeing the scolopend!

Following at his side, she let her eyes roam over the circus again, barely stopping herself from attempting to bounce around in excitement at getting to possibly look around (because a jumping Scolopend meant a falling over Scolopend, and that was never good for the surrounding area), so she settled for clasping her multiple hands in front of her, quietly chirping away beside the Ringmaster. Morty did made sure to keep notice of his surroundings, at least.

“This is very much neat place you lives with, Loyalfriends~ Are the peoples here your families?”

Loyal chuckled a bit, “You can certainly call them that. Though we are not related, I do my best to treat them like family. The circus is not just a place, it’s a lifestyle, and we’re the ones who chose such a way of life.” The grunts who were moving various boxes of props and supplies for the stands caught sight of the being that walked beside their ringmaster. Seeing that he was blind, they weren’t sure whether to do anything or not. Finally, one of the grunts approached the opposite side of Loyal, tapping his arm, “B-boss….? Umm…there’s something on the other side of you…” The invisible man couldn’t help but laugh at the grunt’s comment, “Everyone, this is Mademoiselle Morty. She’s a friend of mine.” The ringmaster wasn’t sure how many of the troupe were within earshot, but he thought he could hear some of them give out faint sighs of relief at hearing that she was a friend.

Morty nodded in understanding, smiling brightly. “My Denmates, we are not the bloods either, but they are still the families too. The bloods do not mean much, when it comes to families, to me.” She had a few choice memories about that, concerning blood, but pushed those thoughts away and glanced at the uneasy expressions around them, stopping her advance beside Loyal with a slightly sheepish wave to the grunts.

When he introduced her, the female gave a toothy grin, pressing the hands on her right side after a small flourish to her sternum and giving a deep bow to them. “Many greetings, friendsies of Sir Loyalfriend! Is very much pleasures to meet his familypeople, yes~”

The grunts seemed to ease up a little, nodding and waving to Morty before returning to their duties. The ringmaster smiled a bit, upon hearing that the scolopend seemed to be getting along with his troupe before hearing them bustle away to do their work. “…I’m quite curious, Morty…is this your first visit to a circus?” he asked, trying to turn his head in her general direction.

Watching them go about their business, Morty slinked closer to Loyal’s side, humming lightly. “It is, yes! I have been to many of the places here on the Earths, but not very of the many with the humanpeople. Even with Glamours, it is hards to blend in without Brian to helps. I have been to the abandons places, though—- theme parks I thinks? With the bright spinny metalthings, they are comfy for the sleeps! But never to actual circusplaces that were still runnings with peoples in it, no.”

She chirped and gave a small wiggle, pressing her fingers together excitedly over the memories. “But I haves always wanted to go, yes.”

He chuckled a bit. “It’s truly a shame that I’m blind for the day…or else I would have shown you my knife-throwing act. I’m not sure if anyone of the performers would be prepared for an impromptu act either…” he sighed. “But…perhaps you’ll come back again when I don’t have a blindfold over my eyes?”

"Oh, wells, I can come back whenever you would haves me; I have not been busy at all lately, so whenever have next shows maybe? And I can bring Brianfriend on next visit, yes! I am sure he would loves this just as much as I~ He likes the neat things he can sketchdraws."

Blinking and smiling down, Morty refocused her full attention back on him, chirping. ”Is there anythings that Sir Loyalfriends need to do now?”

He shook his head. “I don’t think so. But please, feel free to return when I have this blindfold off. I’d be more than happy to give you full circus experience when I am able…” He reached out a gloved hand, keeping it extended as if to ask to hold hers. “…if I may, mademoiselle,” he replied with a grin.

"I will be much honoreds to, yes~ Thank you, friend Loyal; it was much nices to see you again."

She extended one of her hands, mindful of her claws, and let it rest within his gloved one, a beam of a grin spreading across her face. It colored her words, her speech reflecting the smile on her face. “Merci, Monsieur Loyal~” French wasn’t a language she was as familiar with as most, but she had picked up on some in her adventuring to the regions that spoke it -the travels mainly for tasting new human foodstuffs, as it was.

"Until next times, yes? Do be carefuls please!"

With a small smirk, the ringmaster bowed a bit to kiss the back of her hand before releasing. “Until next time,” he repeated as he straightened himself upright.

Morty gave one last chirping giggle at the gesture and a last farewell being called over her shoulder as she slipped quietly back into the woods. This was definitely a fun little adventure, and she was glad she had taken notice of the Circus in her current travels, had gotten the chance to meet with Loyal once more.

She felt a slight tug on her consciousness, her form becoming wispy in areas where before they had been completely solid. Her smile slipping away, the creature gave one last glance back at the troupe, and faded from sight with a wave as her projected form slipped back into the recesses. “Until next times, yes.”

elegantly-brutal:

Very nices? Hn… She’s becoming more of an annoyance by the second. Ah, of course. If you wish to be my friend, you shall be. [He smiled once again, hiding his annoyance behind a mask.] It is good that cold is not a problem; although we won’t be travelling far. A kilometer and a half, that’s all. Come now, Morty. [He headed out of the warehouse; his boots clicking against the hard floor, echoing in the large building. Really, he’d have preferred wearing shoes; the snow prevented that.

He was quickly out of the building, and upon next to his vehicle. Another payment from a temporary employer. Many of his possessions were payment from his employer; that didn’t bother him. Adomos was a good worker; he did as he was told, and was paid what he asked for.] Now, then Morty. All you have to do is follow along. Try to stay off to the side though, no need for anybody to see you; then call a bug exterminator. [He joked, winking at his companion.

His hand fumbled around in his pocket for a few moments, before emerging with his keys.] Unless you can shrink into the size of a normal centipede, you won’t fit in my vehicle; that’s why you must follow along. For this, I apologize. My home is upwards, along the North-Western road. It won’t be too hard to miss, if you do manage to pass me.

I will speak to you shortly, my friend. [The man stepped into his car, and shut the door; he was soon away from the warehouse, and heading for his home.

He’d sung while he drove, swiftly arriving at his home. It was a large mansion, and he loved it. His favorite rooms in his home being the dining room, his kitchen and the library. The man stepped out onto the snow covered driveway; the snow crunching under foot as he headed for the door.] Now, where are you Morty? It’s not like I am not used to this cold; it was far colder at home. However, I did not have a life back there. I did not have the life that I wanted; the life I have now. [There was a click when he unlocked his door; his keys jangled quietly as he stuffed them back into his pocket.]

New friendsies, yes good~!
-She grinned in delight, watching him walk out of the warehouse. Casting one last glance back behind her, and inhaling deeply to get one last scent of the area, the Scolopend followed Adomos out, quickly catching up. Nodding at his words, her faltering grin perked up again, a chirp-like giggle coming in response to the wink.-

Would not want that to happens, no. -Morty shook her head, waving one of her hands.- It is not problems at all! I do not minds the walkings, and is very nices out, yes. I will see you there, Adomosfriends. -She slipped into the surrounding terrain easily, stealthy despite her size and coloration. As a hunting predator, she had had to learn how to become unseen in any sort of setting.

It was very convenient when keeping out of sight of humans, actually; even if her Glamour hid her from their eyes, it was usually a bit strange to see a young woman walking around in the places she frequented. Morty followed silently to the side of his car as he drove, listening with pleased surprise at his singing. (Scolopends were very vocal creatures by nature, and singing was one of the activities they used not only for mating displays, but for entertainment and fun and to express themselves, much like humans.) His voice was also pleasant to her senses, and the sound made her calm further.

The run and singing was indeed effective in the way she had hoped: it cleared her mind enough that she was by far calmer and less edgy when she slinked up to his home, revealing herself to him when he called out, ridding herself of accumulated snow from the run with a quick shake of her long body. Her multi-colored eyes trailed from him to his home, and then back again. She hadn’t quite expected such a large abode, but was grateful for it; hopefully, it was large enough that she wouldn’t accidentally run into something.-

Greetings again, friend Adomos! -She ducked her head with a smile, pressing her right hands to her sternum in greeting.- I heard you sings, yes. You have the very nice vocals. Oh! Your Denplace, it is very large, yes! Much pretties, too~ -Morty could practically feel the heat radiating from within the home, and she shifted in anticipation in the snow. While temperature was no longer a problem, she did indeed prefer warmth to cold, but she wouldn’t voice this out loud and possibly be rude when he had yet to invite her into his abode.- Have you lived heres long?
A Scolopend at the Circus

askringmasterloyal:

Merde….” the ringmaster cursed under his breath as he carefully walked about the circus grounds. He could hear the grunts going about their duties. One of them had even asked the ringmaster if he required assistance. However, the ringmaster was determined to at least try and get about by himself. He had just barely managed to get out of his trailer on his own, and was now trying to make his away about the circus grounds. He had actually managed to reach the edge of the grounds, marked by a few trees that were nearby. He placed a hand in front of him just in time to feel out the bark. “…wonderful….just wonderful….at least we’re not doing any shows today….” he murmured.

Peering from behind the tree she had curled around, Morty watched the goings-on of the circus with bright, curious eyes. So busy and colorful! It was quite a sight to behold, both the people and the structures drawing in her multi-colored gaze and leaving her staring on them with a giddy grin of wonder. It was a sight she wanted to get a better view of, which prompted her to pull herself higher up into the branches above her with another twist of her large tail around the tree trunk. The ascending movement had also made her miss seeing the Ringmaster walking towards the forest line, but she was so transfixed on the troupe that she might have missed him anyways -even with the shock of yellow that made up his attire and hair.

The Scolopend was jerked from her wonderings about the bustling grunts and what they were possibly doing, however, when she felt a hand on the armored hide of her tail. Morty peered downwards at the male, simultaneously freezing up and tilting her head curiously. Was that… a piece of cloth tied around his head? Blind, perhaps? She let out a contemplative chirp and leaned further down to inspect more of the strange-haired fellow, intending to give a greeting (and hopefully not startle him). Of course, that only succeeded in making her lose her grip on the tree and hit the dirt with a loud thump, her legs having released the trunk in her flailing panic at losing her balance, though she had thankfully managed to avoid falling on the man.

“Huuu-“

The ringmaster stiffened up a bit his head turning in the direction of the noise. “…is someone there?” he called. He picked up the sound of a voice that sounded somewhat familiar, but he couldn’t quite place it. He realized that the thud may have been the sound of them falling down, and probably hurting themselves in the process. “…are you alright?” he asked, deciding upon staying where he was. He didn’t want to accidentally trip over them in the process of trying to help them up.

Morty gave a wave of her hand at his words, pushing herself up to a standing position again. It wasn’t until after she was up that she realized the action wouldn’t have been seen by the other, and she quickly chirped out a response while hunching her shoulders in embarrassment.

“Yesyes! I am fines, just a bit dusties.”

Now that she was on the ground, she could properly get a look at the male. ‘Oh, pretty clothesstfuffs, Brian would likes.’ She made a mental note to bring her companion the next time she visited these ‘circus places’.

There was something about him that caught her keen gaze, but she couldn’t quite place what it was as she stared down at the man. Morty almost extended one of her hands for a shake, but she caught herself before the motion had begun this time, opting to greet him verbally instead.

“Oh! Good meetings, yellow friendpersons! I am Morty, and Morty is who I am, yes~ You are part of this neat places, maybe?”

He did seem to fit in rather well with the rest of the brightly-themed surroundings.

“Ah, yes I am….” He blinked a bit at the name. “Morty?” Loyal couldn’t help but chuckle, “I thought I knew that voice from somewhere. Do you not recognize me? It is I, Monsieur Loyal, the ringmaster of the Cirque du Gothique,” he replied, carefully bowing a bit in greeting before straightening himself out. “Granted, it may have been a while since last we met. I believe I haven’t seen you since…well…since I kissed you, actually.” The ringmaster laughed a bit at the memory.

She blinked down at him and tilted her head, first to one side, and then the other, before giving a few sniffs of the air. With a sudden look of recognition, Morty reared back with a happy squeak, then swooped down and curled her long tail loosely around the Ringmaster, giving him a gentle but enthusiastic hug with her many arms.

"Sir Loyalfriend! Oh, it has been much too longs, I am very sorries for not recognizings! We did not get to speaks much last times, and I have been many of the places lately and. Many apologies, yes." Morty looked back to the tents with a grin, a new-found wonder for what may lie within taking hold, now that she knew who ran the place. "This is your workplaces? I never got chances to come here, no. How have beens?"

She rattled off a few more quick words that mainly just dissolved into chirps and coos, but focusing back on him, the Scolopend quieted and began scenting the air again. ”Your eyes, they are not hurts? I do not smell the bloods, but… Is Loyalfriend alrights?”

The ringmaster couldn’t help but laugh a bit at the scolopend’s enthusiasm, though he tensed up a bit at the hug. It wasn’t that he minded too much, but it certainly did surprise him. He offered a small grin as he turned his direction to where he thought her face would be. “Yes, I work in the circus grounds…somewhere. I’ve been fine, cherie…” He blinked a bit at the mention of his eyes before shaking his head. “Yes, everything’s fine, just…a Magic Anon decided to keep me blindfolded until the day was done. I’ve been trying to make the most of it but…I haven’t had much practice relying on my other senses to get around.”

Nodding, Morty frowned and puffed up a bit, relinquishing her hold on Loyal to cross all of her arms with a frown. ”Grayface peoples are not very nice, they are nots. Sounds like much big inconvenience. Do- Do you need any helps finding the things?”

Looking around with the knowledge that he wasn’t used to walking without sight, she saw everything as a potential hazard, and tightened her coil protectively around the male. She knew that it wasn’t her job to look after him, but she instinctively always tried to help and keep all of her friends as safe as she could. An ingrained… Loyalty, she thought with a small smile at her own internal joke.

"I have nots ever had to be blinds before; even without the eyes, I can sees. It must be hards… I can helps! Whatever Sir Loyalfriends needs, I shall helps~"

"Ah-" He gently placed a gloved hand on the coil that surrounded him before chuckling a bit. "Well, first things first, mademoiselle….could you kindly tell me if I’m even within the circus grounds, or have I wandered a little too far?"

Morty smiled, giving a chirping giggle and a shake of her head, though she knew he wouldn’t be able to see. ”No, I am afraids not; you were about to walk into the forests, yes! Maybe is perhaps much more good that we ran the into each other  But is not too far away from the circusplaces, just a few steps back~”

Uncoiling her tail, she carefully put her clawed hand on his shoulder and gave a gentle nudge in the right direction, eyeing the ground for anything he might trip over. ”Is clear path back to the places from here, friendLoyal.”
